Kings Weston House is one of Bristol’s hidden treasures. A Grade 1 listed property completed in 1719, it was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, who also designed Blenheim Palace.

With a choice of four beautiful rooms (see Room Guide) that are licensed for weddings, we have the perfect venue for celebrations of all sizes up to 160 people.

The Portrait gallery holds 120 people for a marriage ceremony and can also be used for reception drinks. Situated at the front of the house, this room is light and airy and a real fairytale room.

The Great Hall holds 120 for a marriage ceremony and can also be used for reception drinks. It’s a breathtaking room where you can wow your guests by walking down from the sweeping staircase.

The Vanbrugh suite holds 160 for a marriage ceremony or 130 for a wedding breakfast, and has views across to Wales.

The Oak Room has the most wonderful wallpaper, and is perfect for smaller weddings of up to 60 guests. It has wonderful views over the grounds.

We also have a gentleman’s club style bar and other smaller rooms available.

How much does it cost to hold a wedding reception or event at the house?

We have a separate cost sheet that has prices of exclusive use from £1995 + VAT

Can we hold our civil marriage or partnership ceremony at the house?

Yes you can. This costs from an additional £250 + VAT

What does the charge include?

You get exclusive use of the house and part use of the grounds from 9am till Midnight on the date agreed. Tables, chairs, bar staff and our In house wedding co-ordinator on hand.
If using our in-house catering, then plates, linen, napkins, glassware, waiting staff and cutlery is also included.

When can we set up?

Unfortunately we can’t commit to you setting up the day before as we may have other events but you are welcome to pay a £500 and hold the day before. On the day you can start bringing items in from as early as 8am and the dining room will be ready from 10am. If you don’t have a group of willing friends or family to set up for you, or you just fancy getting an expert in, then we recommend a wedding stylist ‘The Little Wedding Helper’ that can bring all the details of your day together.

How many people can the house accommodate exclusive use?

400 standing capacity.
Inside, a ceremony up to 140 and dinner of up to 120. We can also accommodate a further 60 for dining (180 total) if happy to split your guests over two rooms for dinner.

Does the house have an alcohol licence?

Kings Weston House holds an alcohol licence and drinks can be served until Midnight. Please note on a Sunday the licence is only until 11pm.

What facilities are available?

A small galley kitchen is available, equipped with a single fridge, There are toilets and a baby change including disabled toilet. Due to the buildings age we do have steps to get into the building but a ramp can be organised on request.

What are the parking facilities?

We have two car parks at the house. The woodland car park and one for the café. We do have a wedding car park sign, we place up the day of the wedding.

Do I have to use approved suppliers?

No, you can use who ever you wish but please note that for using outside catering companies we do have a £950 additional charge to the hire fee & they must have a current health & safety certificate.
We do also have a helpful local suppliers list. All suppliers have been to the house, know it well and offer the very best service. Please ask for details.

Can we have live music?

Yes, the house holds an entertainment licence. We do have to think of our neighbours though, so we have a music noise limiter. Please discuss your music preference before booking.

You may hire our P.A system for £120 inc. VAT but it doesn’t come with decks or CDJs

It is your responsibility to ensure it’s compatible prior. We also have a portable music station for music in the bar and during the ceremony, which holds an iPod or similar devise. We do advise that you test it out prior.

Do we have to clean the building after we leave?

You are expected to leave the house in a good state and any outside catering rubbish must be taken away. We will have our team of cleaners to come in after your event, to do any reasonable cleaning but any additional cleaning required will be charged for. Please note that any items left at the house we ask you collect the following day. If left for over 2 weeks they will be donated to a local charity. A £200 damage deposit Is required prior to your wedding and then returned within a week after.
